Carmen J. Fierro

Our beloved Carmen Fierro was born in Casper, Wyoming on July 6th, 1923, to Antonio and Leonor Jacques. She went peacefully to her eternal home on June 9th, 2023, in Van Horn, Texas.

Her family lived in Marfa and Shafter, Texas, on and off, for about four years. For the next 96 years, she would call Van Horn, TX home. At the age of just thirteen, she raised all six of her younger siblings, as their parents had passed on. Eventually, she met the love of her life, and they had twelve children of their own. Carmen was a stay-at-home wife and mother, who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her big family, including her grandkids, without any complaints. Her love knew no end. Carmen leaves a legacy of over 100 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and who loved her even more. She is survived by her children, Amador (Patricia) Fierro of Colorado Springs, Gene Fierro of Anthony, NM, William (Jeanette) Fierro of Van Horn, Texas, Basilio Fierro of Van Horn, Texas, Bobbie Fierro of Van Horn, Texas, Abel Fierro of Van Horn, Texas, Betty (Serjio) Hinojos of Van Horn, Texas, Johanna (Ismael) Rodarte of Houston, Texas, Douglas Fierro of Fort Stockton, Texas and Jack Chrisopher (Doralinda) of San Antonio, Texas, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Candelario Fierro, her mother and father Antonio and Leonor Jacques, her siblings, Amador H. Jacques, Angela Dominguez, Martin Jacques, Memis Jacques, Joe “El Guero'' Jacques and Maria Ortega, as well as three of her children, Mary Lou Talavera, Jo Van Fierro, and Jack Fierro.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Lorenza Borrego will be held at the Templo De Dios Church on Friday June 14, 2024, at 10:00 am. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.

The pallbearers serving are Billy Joe Talavera, Issac Talavera, Moses Talavera, Micheal Talavera, Caleb Talavera and Elisha Talavera. Honorary pallbearers are Melani Rodarte and JoVanna Hinojos.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
