Enrique S. Tarango

Enrique Tarango Jr passed Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his home in Pecos, TX, after a lengthy illness at the age of 69. He was born March 7, 1955, in Los Fresnos Chihuahua Mexico to Enrique Tarango and Esther Saenz Tarango. He lived and attended school in his hometown of Van Horn, TX. He was a welder by trade. His job took him to many places before he decided to settle in Odessa, TX. Where he lived and raised his family. Later, he moved to Pecos TX, where he retired and lived out his life.

Immediate and extended family were of utmost importance to him. A hearty handshake or a pat on the back was his way of greeting people. Always with a big grin on his face. He kept informed of the goings-on of both family and friends. Always ready to extend a helping hand where needed.

He loved horses, and his passion was horse racing. He owned several horses during his adult life, but his favorite was El Cacheton, his racehorse. You could always find them at the racetrack on the weekend.

He will be greatly missed by all who know him. He was preceded in death by his parents Enrique and Esther Tarango. And his brother Abelardo Tarango.

Enrique is survived by his wife, Pancha Urias Tarango. Daughter Elizabeth Tarango of Midland TX. Stepdaughters: Senaida Esparza (Ruben) of Pecos TX, Sulema Reyes (Mario) of Pecos TX, and Olga Mendoza. Sons: Jonathan Richard Tarango of Austin TX, and Stevan Edward Tarango of Odessa TX. Stepson Orlando Mendoza (Casy) of Pecos TX. Enrique had 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sisters: Adalinda Tarango of Van Horn TX, Alicia Jacquez (Billy) of Odessa TX, Adela Dees (Jackie) of Van Horn TX, and Joanna (Anna) Tarango of Odessa, Brother Alberto Tarango (Sara) of Odessa TX, and Cousin David Saenz of Wexford, PA.

Pallbearers: Stevan Carlitos Tarango, Moises Tarango, Orlando Mendoza, Olga Mendoza, Michael Tarango, Mark Jacquez, Christopher Jacquez, and Daniel Rivera

Visitation for Enrique will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home – Van Horn, Texas. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated for on Enrique on Saturday, November 9, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial immediately followed at Van Horn Cemetery.
