Trinidad Urias

Trinidad Flores Urías, called “Mama Trine” by her grandchildren, was called by the Lord on August 27, 2021, in Midland, TX, peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Jesus Urias Jr., Dominic Fuentes, Juan Murillo Jr., Azaiah Cadenas, Joaquin Carrasco, Chris Becerra, Valentin Urías, Nathen Brown, Urbano Melendez and Abel Flores. Honorary pallbearers will include her grandchildren.

Trinidad Flores Urías was born June 4, 1933, in Pilares, TX to Pedro Flores and Eriberta García Flores. She married Jesus Urías at the age of 16 on June 11, 1949.

Mama Trine was a longtime resident of Van Horn, TX. She worked as a housekeeper for many years, was a homemaker, and dedicated her life to raising most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mama Trine and Papi Chuy loved to dance in their prime years. If “The Twist” played at any function they attended, she was sure to be on the dance floor with her nephew Beto Becerra. As tiny as she was, she was known to all her family and friends as feisty and expressed herself without fear.

Trinidad was preceded in death by her loving husband Jesus Urías, parents Pedro and Eriberta García Flores, sisters Dolores Becerra, Guadalupe Flores, brother Juan Flores, sons-in-law Adán Hernández, and Isabel Mendoza, as well as several nephews.

Survivors include daughters Eloísa Mendoza of Ft. Stockton, Adela Hernandez of Midland, María Vel Shaw and Husband Linwood of San Antonio, a niece whom she loved as her own, Alicia Flores of Artesia, NM, sons Roberto Urías and wife Licha of Van Horn, Margarito Urías of Dallas and Saul Urías of Van Horn. Mama Trine was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 18 grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rosary is scheduled at 10:00 am., followed by a Mass of Christian burial planned on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Van Horn, TX. Frank Hernandez of Van Horn will officiate the services with a burial to follow.
